Are you paying per month for rides you dont use? Do you ride often enough to buy an unlimited pass? MetroCost is designed to answer these questions for you.

You track your subway and bus rides with MetroCost, and it determines which is best for you: an Unlimited Ride or a Pay Per Ride MetroCard.

Each time you ride, launch MetroCost and swipe a finger along the black strip to record it.

When its time to buy a new card, launch MetroCost to see which is the best deal for you, based on your recorded riding patterns.

After only a few days of use, MetroCost computes your average usage: theres no need to wait for a month to get useful information from MetroCost!

MetroCost is perfect if you use public transit frequently, but not every day. Or, if youre simply curious about how much you spend and if you are getting your fares worth.

You can customize MetroCost for any transit system where fares do not depend on distance traveled. All fare information is configurable, and color themes are available for New York Citys MTA, San Franciscos Muni, and Atlantas MARTA systems. Contact me to suggest other cities to be included in future updates.

NOTE: Screenshots show values for New York City, which adds a 15% bonus when funding a Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard. Thus, the actual cost of a $2.25 ride is $1.96 when the bonus is factored in.
